Starting at 2 pm, memories of Daryl's years here in Robinson will be shared by those who were lucky enough to have come into Daryl's life.

Daryl's wishes were to have a fun, uplifting gathering, tell a few memories, and drink a beer and toast to him. Hoping to hear some funny, heartwarming stories about a wonderful man that was taken too soon.

OBITUARY:

The 70-year life journey of Daryl Fisher came to a sudden yet serene close on the green fairways of the Oak Glen Golf Course outside his beloved Robinson, IL, on July 25, 2024. Born in Prairie City, OR, on January 9, 1954, Daryl's life was a canvas of varied experiences. A graduate of Hayfork High School in 1972, he served in the Air National Guard, a reflection of his dedication to both country and family. Much of his life was spent in Spokane, WA, where he raised his daughters and coached their ball teams, instilling in them the same zest for life he lived every day.

His career spanned several industries - he worked in a sawmill, delivered propane and meat, and eventually managed a mobile medical unit that annually made its way to Robinson, IL. Mary Jane Parker, who saw how this kind soul cared and advocated for his staff, decided to introduce him to her friend, Terry. She checked all of his boxes: Terry had a good job, a nice house, and let's not forget, a pool! Together, they created a life marked by laughter, love, and shared joys, such as golfing and attending blues festivals - where Daryl's infamous Guy Fieri hat made a number of heads turn.

Upon settling in Robinson, he joined Bradford Supply, working as a salesman from 2004 until his retirement in 2016. His tenure here was marked by his infectious ability to blend work with a sense of enjoyment, a gift he generously shared with his colleagues. In fact, he showed all of us what it looks like to enjoy the goodness of life. A lifelong fan of Washington sports, he passionately followed Seahawks football, Mariners baseball, and Gonzaga basketball, finding community and camaraderie in every game watched and every beer shared. A lover of the outdoors, Daryl took great pleasure in yard work and hosting gatherings by the pool, where he would smoke brisket to perfection. His culinary skills were legendary, with homemade jerky becoming a cherished gift during the holidays. He could have sold them for a profit if he wanted, but it would have gone against his heart; the man possessed unlimited generosity.

Indeed, Daryl's larger-than-life persona was matched by his bigheartedness. He was the type of guy who took a genuine interest in people's lives, whether it was a local at Rosati's or a stranger at a vacation resort. Whoever it was, they would have noticed that the man had a way about him that made others feel comfortable and at ease. To love and to be loved was his greatest joy, and he did so unconditionally, embracing Terry's family as his own. The impact he made as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend cannot be overstated.

Daryl's last day mirrored the life he led-full of simple pleasures, surrounded by those he cherished, and doing what he loved. Our hearts find comfort in knowing that it was spent living life to the fullest, which comes as no surprise, as this is how he lived every day. May our memories of him forever encourage us to infuse our own days with joy, kindness, and an enduring love for the journey.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Terry Fisher; by his daughters, Amanda Smith, Holly & Mike Weaver, and Jenny & Tim Musa; by his step-sons & their wives, Tyler & Ashley Akers and Derek & Shawna Akers; by his grandchildren, Alex, Hailey, Addison, Alissa, Payton, Noah, Jade, Neveah, and Makaila; by his siblings, Dwayne Fisher, Judy Olson, and Chuck Fisher; by his sisters-in-law, Janice Robinson and Jane Lewis; by several nieces and nephews; and by his four-legged companion, his beloved "granddog", Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Pearl (Wood) Fisher; by his sister, JoAnn Barnes; by his brother, Scott Fisher; and by his close friend, Dan Gunraj.

It was his wish to be cremated, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of his life, which his family will arrange at a later date. In his memory, memorials may be made to either "Goodwin Girls" (a non-profit organization that provides temporary housing and support services for women aged 18-25 who have experienced trauma) or to the NOW Program (which sends supplemental food home on weekends with students in the Robinson School District.) Memorial donations may be left at the funeral home.
