Darrell Reese Conrad, 78, of rural Palestine, IL, died at 11:47 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL. He was born July 16, 1931 in Palestine, IL, the son of Miles Conrad and Edith McGahey Conrad. He graduated with PHS Class of 1949, from Vincennes University in 1951 with an accounting degree and attended Butler University for 1 years before being drafted into the U. S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict. He raised and trained horses until he was in poor health. He was a Class A Horse Judge and also showed horses traveling various states. He was a life member for over 51 years of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, a member of the Gordon Methodist Church, and attended the First United Methodist Church, Palestine.Darrell married Judy Chesnut on November 8, 1958 and she survives. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and John Reichman, Linton, IN; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Stephanie Lynn Conrad on January 25, 1988; and his sister, Lorene Conrad.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Rev. Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, American Cancer Society, or to the First United Methodist Church, Palestine with envelopes available at the funeral home.
