Darrell Lee Wilson, Jr., 62, of Robinson, IL, died April 16, 2021, at his home. He was born April 10, 1959, in Aurora, IL, the son of Darrell Lee Wilson and Marjorie Marie (Huber) Wilson, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Vickie Blevins on December 31, 1981, and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Denise King, and by his brother, Brian Wilson. He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, J.D. & Jodi Garrard (Montgomery, IL) and Brian & Sylvia Inboden (West Union, IL); by 3 granddaughters, Nicole & Colin Hunter (Ashmore, IL), Brianna King (Charleston, IL), and Kelsey Houser (Oblong, IL); by three great-grandchildren; by his brothers, Rodney Wilson (Oblong, IL), Jack Wilson (Oblong, IL), and Wilmer Wilson (Oblong, IL); by his sister & brother-in-law, Evelyn & J.R. Flynn (Oblong, IL); by his sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Sherry & James Skidmore (Robinson, IL), Kevin & Donna Blevins (Palestine, IL), and Mark & Heather Blevins (FL); by several nieces, nephews, and extended family members; as well as his beloved dogs, Lilly, Tucker, and Maggie. The son of a military man, Darrell grew up all over the country before his family finally settled in the Oblong area when he was 13 years old. After high school, he decided to pursue carpentry and found work through Carpenters' Local #243 in Champaign. His love of carpentry overflowed into his home life, as Darrell made countless treasures over the years. Most notably, he used his woodworking skills to add to the wonder of his home's Christmas display. Thanks to his creative decoration, his house was a go-to every winter, to the point that he even won "Best Display" in Robinson one year! Never one to let dust settle, he actively championed many causes. In fact, it could be said that Darrell "walked the walk" when it came to supporting the causes he believed in. After all, he took part in a number of events for both the Relay for Life and the Walk to End Alzheimer's. He was also involved with the Misfits Group, the Sons of the American Legion, the Sons of the VFW, and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Though he liked to keep busy, he also knew how to kick back and enjoy himself. He was, by all accounts, an outdoorsman. Few things brought more life to his living than camping and canoeing. Recently, he even tried his hand at kayaking! We who are left behind will cling to memories like Darrell putting ketchup on just about everything, as well as the many tales that he so wonderfully told. Now that the final chapter of his story has come to a close, we find peace knowing that, by the grace of God, he is reunited with his precious Vickie. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24th, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with Pastor Steven Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery.
