Danny Reed, 68, of Annapolis, IL, lost his battle with cancer and passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born February 17, 1952, in Sullivan, IN, the son of Doit & Shirley (Goodwin) Reed, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Tracey Bowen on August 8, 1998, and they returned to the Annapolis area in 2008. In addition to his wife, Tracey, he is also survived by his daughter, Danielle Reed (Albert Grezeszak) of Georgetown, IL; brother, Mark (Cathy) Reed of Williamsport, IN; sister, Cheryl Miller (Scott Cherry) of Annapolis, IL; as well as a number of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Though Danny worked construction for a time, much of his professional career was spent serving his fellow man with both the Virginia and Illinois State Police. Following his retirement in 2002, he started a knife business and became active in the cutlery industry, making wonderful friends all over the country in the process. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Illinois Concerns of Police Survivors, or "Illinois C.O.P.S.", a non-profit organization which provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families of law enforcement officers killed in the line-of-duty.
