Danny Bailey

October 17, 1971 — October 4, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Danny Bailey. He fought a very difficult fight with cancer, but in the end, it was the Lord's will to take him home. Danny went to Heaven on Sunday night, October 4, 2020.  Danny, age 48, was born October 17, 1971, and is survived by his parents, Wayne & Patty Bailey; his daughter, KayLee Bailey; his brother, Justin Bailey; by his nephew, Braeton Davis; by his aunts, Annie Knoblett, Mary Venatta, and Norma Patterson; by his uncle, Marion Bailey; by his aunt, Winnie Timms; by a host of cousins and extended family members; as well as his good friend, Jeff Keesling.  Though he was born into a military family in Augsburg, Germany, he always considered Palestine his home. A 1990 graduate of Palestine High School, he would go on to work at Tempco for 13 years before getting on at Hershey, where he's been a Bauermeister operator in the Whopper division for the last 7 years.  Away from work, much of his free time was spent outdoors. Hunting season was a great source of joy in his life, and he appreciated the peace that only comes with a fishing pole in hand. At home, he could often be found cheering on his beloved Texas Longhorns or Indianapolis Colts alongside his Great Danes - Letty, Princess, Thor, and Snowball. It was apparent that few things brought more life to his living than spending time with his family. They will remember Danny as a strong, kind soul with an ornery side that made you realize that life is what you make it. It's been said that it’s not the years in your life that count...it’s the life in your years. We are thankful that Danny Bailey filled his 48 years with real living. His family is also thankful to the staff of Carle Foundation Hospital as well as Marna Cooper. The care and concern they provided Danny and his loved ones was nothing short of incredible, and their generosity will not be forgotten.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9th at the Palestine Cemetery, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. During the service, there will be an opportunity for family and friends to share memories of his life.PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO COVID-19 MANDATES PASSED BY THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, IT WILL BE REQUIRED THAT ALL ATTENDEES WEAR FACE COVERINGS.  In honor of the love he had for his "fur-babies", memorial contributions may be made to the "Crawford County Humane Society", with envelopes available at the cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
