Cory Shields

Cory Shields, 26, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:07 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at his home. He was born November 27, 1992 in Robinson, IL the son of Michael Ray Shields & LeeAnn (Nolan) Smith. Cory grew up in Oblong, where he attended school and managed the Panthers football team before graduating in 2012. His love of football continued into adulthood and he was, by all accounts, a die-hard Indianapolis Colts fan. Cory will long be remembered for his friendly, loving nature. In short, he didn’t know a stranger and left an impact on all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, LeeAnn Smith (Robinson, IL); by his brothers & sister-in-law, Del VanWinkle (Robinson, IL) and Aaron & Cassie Shields (Robinson, IL); by his aunt & uncle, Tanna & John Tardif (Robinson, IL); by his uncle, Shane Whyte (Robinson, IL); by his great-grandmother, Norma Boyd (Robinson, IL); by his dear friend, Brock Fitts; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Ray Shields; and by his maternal grandparents, James Boyd & Carol Osborn; and by his paternal grandparents, Shorty & Betty Price. According to the wishes of his family, Cory will be cremated with no public services following. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of cremation arrangements. His family will have a gathering at the Highland Church of Christ Fellowship Hall at a later date.
