Connie Camden, 72, of Flat Rock, IL, died February 27, 2021, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born December 22, 1948, outside of Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Dexter & Marie (Benson) Ducharme, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda Murray; by her brother, Ronnie Ducharme; by her niece, Amanda Ducharme; and by her father-in-law, Arl Camden. She married Roger Camden on April 4, 1981, and he survives. She is also survived by her children, John Camden (Flat Rock, IL), David & Jennifer Camden (Bridgeport, IL), and Kristy Camden (Palestine, IL); by her grandchildren, Ashlei Williams, Marissa Christine, Jacob Christine (all of Palestine, IL), Dylan, Logan, and Brayden Camden (all of Bridgeport, IL); by her great-grandchild, Brooklynn Brannon (Palestine, IL); by her sister & brother-in-law, Barb & Robert Ash (Ocean Springs, MS); by her brother & sister-in-law, JD & Sue Ducharme (Palestine, IL); by her mother-in-law, Glenna Camden (Robinson, IL); as well as many nieces and nephews. Connie grew up in rural Crawford County and was a 1967 graduate of Palestine High School. She spent much of her professional career in the insurance industry, having worked for both Prudential Insurance Company and Burkhart Insurance before finally retiring in 2014. Though she enjoyed her work, anyone who knew her could attest that her true calling was found in the home. By all accounts, Connie loved nothing more than being a mother and grandmother and poured all of her energy into these roles. Each of her children and grandchildren brought life to her living and were each a great source of joy to her life. When she was able, she made every event and ballgame she could and looked for every opportunity to spend time with those she loved most in this world. The love she so freely gave pointed to the faith that has now made her whole. A longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Palestine, IL, we know that she gave her life to Jesus years ago. Because of this, we have the assurance that her 72 years were but the beginning in light of eternal life. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5th, at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Under Phase 4 Mitigations, it will be required that all visitors wear face coverings while in attendance. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Oblong Children's Christian Home", with envelopes available at the cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements.
