Clyde R. Preston, Sr.

Clyde R. Preston, Sr. 90 of rural Flat Rock, IL, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center in Robinson. He was born November 9, 1917 in Flat Rock, the son of George Preston and Elsie Sheppard Preston. He was a retired road commissioner for Honey Creek Township and was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in Europe.Clyde married Bessie Jane Pinkstaff on August 18, 1945 and she survives. He is also survived by his son, C. Russell Preston, Robinson and his daughter, Juanita Sue Preston, Flat Rock; 2 grandchildren; Amber Wampler and her husband, Kevin, and Crystal Preston, Hutsonville; a great grandson, Grant Wampler, Robinson; his sister, Jean Wesley, Flat Rock; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Preston, Flat Rock; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents,; 5 brothers, Ralph, Richard, Randall, Raymond and Merle 'Junior' Preston; 3 sisters, Lorene Blunt, Mary Parker, and Beulah Boyd. Funeral services are Tuesday, January 15th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Janice Kincaid is in charge of services. Burial is in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation is Monday, January 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549; and the Amvets Post #33.
