Clay L. Rich

Clay L. Rich, 79 of rural Robinson, IL, died at 1:25 p.m. February 15, 2007 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born September 25, 1927 in Flat Rock, IL, the son of Homer M. Rich and Gladys Parker Rich. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific and China. He had worked at Marathon from 1949 to 1985 where he retired as welding shop foreman, and was a member of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. He married Lola M. Bonesteel on August 5, 1949 and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and 4 brothers, Gerald G. Rich, Nelson P. Rich, Harold V. Rich and Leon Rich.He is survived by his son, Brian Rich, Robinson; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Mike McCammon, Palestine, Pam and Frank Phillippe, Flat Rock; 8 grandchildren, Laura Phillippe, Jeff Phillippe, Tamara Phillippe Dompe, Angie Ferguson, Stacie Ogle, Lindsay Beabout, Elijah Rich, Shane Rich; 9 great grandchildren;4 brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd and Edith Rich, Bull Head City, AZ, Homer Nelson Jr. and Shirley Rich, Hobart, IN, Ronald and Sherrill Rich, Terre Haute, IN, Mervin and Helen Rich, Robinson; and 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Juanita Outcalt, Robinson, and Darlene and Frank Lawhead, Villa Grove, IL; 2 sisters-in-law, Audrey Rich, Robinson and Edith Rich, Dundas; his mother-in-law, Alice Bonesteel, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Rev. Dean West and Rev. Bill McCluskey are in charge of services. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the AmVets Post 33, Robinson American Legion Post #69, Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Crawford Memorial Home Health Care, with envelopes at the funeral home.
