Claudine Sparks-Whetstone

Claudine Mae Sparks-Whetsone, 89 of Russellville, KY, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville. She was born August 23, 1918 in rural Palestine, the daughter of Claude Nethery and Maude Floyd Nethery. She was a homemaker, a member of the Russelville, Kentucky Temple 1st United Methodist Church and also the Order of the Eastern Star. She married Willard Lee Sparks May 1, 1940 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1983. She then married Keith Whetstone on June 27, 1991 and he preceded her in death in 2002. She was also preceded by her parents; and 3 sisters, Ruby Hardesty, Pauline Oldham Jordan, and Edith Parkhurst.She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Darla Sparks, Russellville, KY, Lee and Madge Sparks, Hermitage, MO; 3 grandchildren, Randy, Scott, and Jason Sparks; 6 great grandchildren, Cassie, Drake, Ashley, Lindsey, Tristan, and Jayce Sparks; her step daughter, Claudia Whetstone, Mattoon; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be Sunday, April 13th at 2:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine with Pastor Ruth Waite officiating. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday and until service time on Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Palestine First United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
