Claudia Jean Welty, 75, of Robinson, IL, died June 10, 2020, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born January 22, 1945, in Oak Park, IL, the daughter of Robert Finch & Pauline (Foster) Finch, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Michael & Lorrie Welty (Robinson, IL), Matthew Welty & fiancée Christina Dougan (Overland Park, KS), and Lora Welty (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Christopher Welty, Lucas Welty, Holly & John Dutoit, and Hannah Welty; as well as a number of extended family members. Claudia grew up in the Wheaton, IL area, where she was granted a sophisticated upbringing. The daughter of a classically-trained musician, she was well-versed at playing a number of instruments, including the cello, violin, flute, piccolo, and piano, all by the time she graduated from Wheaton Central High School in 1963. She would soon marry Paul Welty, with whom she would share a family until 2013. Having been gifted with a natural intelligence and penchant for numbers, she was able to provide for her family as an accountant/bookkeeper/office manager for a number of businesses over her career. As she grew near to her twilight years, she found work at Wal-Mart, where she started as a stocker, but soon made her mark interacting with customers as a cashier. She was, after all, a relational soul. She was known to knit and crochet, not for herself, but for her family and friends, who have each been given a wonderful, tactile reminder of the love she had for them. Hers was a heart that beat for others, as evidenced by the way she lived her life. Claudia would, without a thought, shoulder another's burden and would give of herself until she had nothing left to offer. In a culture that teaches us to ask, "what do I need?", she lived her life asking another question: "what can I provide?" What she provided was light in the darkness. To a self-seeking world, Claudia Welty provided a selfless picture of Jesus. We are so grateful that, by the grace of God, her 75 years are just the beginning in light of eternal life. Due to the CDC's recommendation and the State of Illinois' mandate to limit public gatherings to no more than ten people, there will be no public visitation. However, Claudia's family would like to invite you to take part by viewing the live stream of her service at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16th. This can be done on Goodwine Funeral Homes' Facebook page or by going to https://www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com/live-stream/live-stream . As per Claudia's wishes, she will be cremated following the service, and burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
