It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Clara Seeders (Hunter), on August 14, 2020, following several months of declining health. Clara was born August 20, 1930, in Brown County, Indiana, to Arthur and Jessie Barrick. She graduated from Helmsburg High School, where she met the love of her life, William ‘Bill’ Hunter. They were married on January 6, 1951. Following Bill’s service in the Army, they moved to Palestine, IL, where they raised five children and became involved in several civic and community youth activities, including Eastern Star. For years Clara’s friendly and trusting smile greeted many friends and clients at Farmer’s State Bank in Palestine, where she began working as a teller and retired years later as a Vice President. She was active in the First Christian Church, serving as the adult Sunday School teacher and playing the piano for Sunday Church services. Following the death of Bill, she married Ocie Seeders and became involved at the First Presbyterian Church in Palestine. Clara is survived by her children; Carol Hunter Ferrantelli of Pacific Grove, CA and Alexandria, VA, Barbara Hunter Wade of Midland, TX and Palestine, IL, David Hunter of Gibson City, IL, Randy Hunter of Evans, GA, and John Hunter of Lawrenceville, IL; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In compliance with CDC COVID guidelines, there will be no visitation. The family will hold a private graveside service, with the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine overseeing arrangements. Our heartfelt thanks go to all who supported Clara with your prayers and cards. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Palestine Food Pantry, (15595 E 1150th Ave, Palestine, 62451).
