Chris Fowler, 53, of Hutsonville, IL, died at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 25, 1965 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Fred & Phyllis Jo (Bridgewater) Fowler. Chris grew up in the Hutsonville area and was a 1983 graduate of Hutsonville High School. She loved children with her whole heart and would go on to become a beloved school bus driver for CUSD #1, a job she cherished for 30 years. When she wasn’t on the road, she kept busy crafting, hand-making countless trinkets and treasures for her friends and family. In recent years, she found great joy in her role as “Memaw” to her grandbabies. Those who knew her best will remember a headstrong, spunky soul, but one who found life in lending others a helping hand. The memories she left in our hearts prove that she was one-of-a-kind. Simply put, there will never be another Chris Fowler. She is survived by her father & step-mother, Fred & Cheryl Fowler (Pall Mall, TN); by her son & daughter-in-law, Corey & Sheri Mehler (Hutsonville, IL); by her grandchildren, Mason Mehler, Wyatt Mehler, Willow Mehler, and Lillian Wolf; by her sisters, Carol & Rodger Artman (Annapolis, IL) and Shelly Bean (Annapolis, IL); by her aunt & uncle, Donna & Norman Tingley (Hutsonville, IL); by her uncle, Dick Bridgewater (West York, IL); and by her niece, Haley Bean (Annapolis, IL). She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Virgil “Pee-Wee” & Lenora (Harris) Bridgewater; by her paternal grandparents, Maurice & Alice Fowler; by her mother, Phyllis Jo Fowler; by her niece, Whitney Artman; and by her step-son, Dustin Borders. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL. Funeral services will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Hutsonville Cemetery.
