Charla A. Barnbrook-Sparrow, 50, of Stewardson, IL, passed away unexpectedly at her home on June 25, 2023. Born on March 14, 1973, Charla brightened the world around her with her unique charm and gentle nature, leaving an impact on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Born and raised in Robinson, IL, she was a proud graduate of Robinson High School. In her adult life, she worked with dignity through the Lawrence Crawford Association for Exceptional Citizens. As much as Charla enjoyed this work, she also cherished simple pleasures. From the tranquil beauty of Shelbyville Lake, where she indulged in swimming, to the joy of having cookouts and mingling with her family, her zest for life was transparent. She found beauty in the simplicity of things, like the magic of fireworks lighting up the night sky, or losing herself in the innocent joy of coloring. Charla had a particular knack for card games such as Solitaire, Skip-Bo, and Phase 10. A woman of diverse tastes, Charla enjoyed the soothing rhythms of country music, particularly tracks from Tracy Lawrence, Tracy Byrd, and the legendary Reba McIntyre.
Despite her introverted demeanor, those fortunate to have known Charla can attest to her warm presence. Her inherent shyness, although a barrier to making new acquaintances, was often diffused by her friendly and approachable nature once the initial barricades of unfamiliarity receded. Once you got to know her, you'd find that Charla was a genuinely gentle soul. She was a woman who did not harbor any animosity, embodying peace in its truest form. Her generosity emanated from every interaction and was felt deeply by those around her. For Charla, expressing affection came naturally. She was known to greet everyone with a bright smile and a warm hug, an endearing gesture that captured the very essence of her benevolent spirit. Charla's warm and captivating presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege to cross paths with this remarkable woman.
Charla leaves behind her father, Clem E. Barnbrook, her siblings, Connie & Jeramie Ault, Corey Graham, Craig Graham, and Brandon & Krissy Bennett, along with several nieces and nephews. She is reunited with her mother, Sue, who preceded her in death.
Charla is to be cremated, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements.
