Char Harvey

Charlene 'Char' Harvey, 75, of Robinson, IL, died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born May 29, 1933 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Charles R. Metheny and Ruth V. Shonk Metheny. She was a broker/owner of Harvey, Biggs & Company Real Estate Inc, with CRS and GRI certifications, retiring on December 1, 2006. She was a Master Gardener, Director of the Robinson Chamber of Commerce and started the chair auction for the chamber, an active member of the American Heart Association, Past President of Business and Professional Women’s Club and she received their Working Woman of the Year award in 1993, and their President’s Choice Award in 1998, a member of the Red Hat Society, Otterbein United Methodist Church and Crawford County Arts. She received the Daniel Q. Adams Chamber Service Award for outstanding service to the Robinson Chamber of Commerce and Robinson Community in March 2004. She participated in many charities and fundraisers.She married Robert L. Harvey December 22, 1951 and he survives. She is also survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Robert C. and Andrea Harvey, Robinson, Thomas P. and Delila Harvey, Evansville, IN; 5 grandchildren, Tucker, Nicole, Erin, Alex, and Dylen Harvey all of Evansville, IN; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary Oliver, Ft. Myres, FL, Norma Brown, Banning, CA, Jacklyn Lyons, Albuquerque NM, and Carolyn and Mervin Bonesteel, Robinson; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill Hussey, Robinson; 5 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandson, Tanner Harvey.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Robinson with Brother Maurice Midgley, O. S. L. officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Memorials may be made to the Tanner Harvey Memorial Golf Event of the Palestine High School and Hutsonville High School.
