Carolyn Sue (Van Winkle) Peterson, 73, of Robinson, IL, died June 14, 2020, in the comfort of her home. She was born December 16, 1946, in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Leroy Wesley Van Winkle & Lillian Ethel Milam, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and a brother, Vernon McKeehan, Brenda McKeehan, Janet Langley, and Linda Davis; as well as two nephews and a niece. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Debra Heleine & Terry (Robinson, IL), Deanna & Ken Rogers (Owensboro, KY) and Joanna Osborn (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Wesley & Sacora Rogers (NC), Phillip & Kayla Rogers (LA) and Samantha & Axl Bartlett (SC); by five great-grandchildren; by three brothers & two sisters, Gary McKeehan (Brazil, IN) Robert & Alice McKeehan (Villa Grove, IL) Roberta McCullough (Brazil, IN) Gary Van Winkle (Lawrenceville, IL), and Cheryl Kirk (Casey, IL); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A lifelong resident of Robinson, Carolyn worked for many years at the pottery before they closed their doors. She took this as an opportunity to go back to school, earning her associate degree in business from Lincoln Trail College, where she helped teach computers in their Learning Skills Center. She eventually found work with TRW, where she would spend the better part of a decade before retiring in 2008. Away from work, she was active in a number of local organizations, and was a former member of the Robinson American Legion Auxiliary, the Robinson V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Ladies of the Moose. Carolyn also spent countless hours whipping up delightful delicacies in her kitchen. In particular, her lasagna was a thing of beauty, and her fudge was the stuff of legend. The only thing that brought her more joy than cooking was serving her delicious creations to those she loved. Though she did it in her own unique way, Carolyn truly loved her family. They will remember her as their outspoken, strong-willed matriarch. She was a source of strength to those she loved, and her memory will continue to strengthen them for the rest of their lives. It was Carolyn's wish to be cremated without a public service. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
