Carolyn Purcell

Carolyn Purcell, 74, of Marshall, IL, formerly of Robinson, IL, died Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born March 9, 1946, in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Allen & Delila Ruth (Finch) White, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Stephen Purcell; by her daughter, Sheryl McLaughlin; by her sister, Thelma Farlow; and by her brothers, Howard White and Leonard White. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Shannon & David Burkybile (Marshall, IL) and Sharon & Danny Horton (Zephyrhill, FL); by her grandchildren, Garrett Burkybile, Devon Burkybile, Chrisi Altman, Brittany Johnston, Amber Turner, Justin Horton, Tiffany Horton, Erin Horton, Ashley Southern, Justin Southern, and Joshua Caldwell; by several beloved great-grandchildren; by her brothers, John & Barb White (Robinson, IL), Terry & Donna White (Robinson, IL) and Gary White (Robinson, IL); by her sister, Mary Ann White (Robinson, IL); by her son-in-law, Jim McLaughlin (New Port Richey, FL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Though Carolyn grew up in Robinson and was a 1964 graduate of RHS, she made the move to Dade City, FL, where she lived for 15 years. Upon moving back home, she found work with the Post Office, and was the postmaster in Sumner, Sainte Marie, and finally in Oblong, before retiring after 28 years of faithful service. Time at home often found Carolyn working in her yard or tending to her flowers, and these brought a wonderful sense of pride and accomplishment throughout her years. Inside, she enjoyed crafting and crocheting, and created some wonderful trinkets and treasures that her beloved family will cherish for as long as they live. Her memory lives on in their hearts, and she will never be forgotten. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO COVID-19 MANDATES PASSED BY THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES WILL BE IN FORCE, AND IT WILL BE REQUIRED THAT ALL ATTENDEES WEAR FACE COVERINGS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
