Carolyn L. Wilson

November 6, 1933 — December 28, 2022

Carolyn L. Wilson, 89, of Robinson, IL, passed away on December 28, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born on November 6, 1933, in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Ransom & Gladys (Bennett) Wade, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wilson, on July 17, 2019, and by her brother, Raymond Wade.

She is survived by her children & their spouses, Pam Kamplain (Palestine, IL), Steven & Nancy Lescalleet (Palestine, IL), Donna (Palestine, IL), Halena & Lon Estep (Robinson, IL), Joseph, Jr. & Terri Smith (St. Elmo, IL), and Kathleen Smith (Oblong, IL); as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Carolyn grew up Crawford County area, where she was raised in a Godly home. In fact, her father was instrumental in starting the Robinson Church of God, where she was a longtime member. As a young woman, her love of babies led her to become an OB technician, and Carolyn worked in a number of hospitals over her brief career before devoting herself to her house and all those who called it "home". Her family could attest to her prowess in the kitchen, as she could bake about as well as anyone! Her pineapple upside-down cake was the stuff of legend, and her cinnamon rolls were other-worldly. Evenings were often spent at the VFW or other local venues, where Carolyn would dance and sway to the beat of local bands. Her love of music was also evident in the way she played piano by ear. She continued to express herself musically as her battle with dementia progressed. Even near the end of her life, she would sing hymns of praise to her Lord from her hospital bed, moments that brought beauty and light into her dark surroundings. In fact, this was but a small picture of what Carolyn did throughout her 89 years. Though she experienced trial after trial, she never lost the joy of living and embodied the verse, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." We are thankful that she trusted her Heavenly Father, who welcomed her into his loving arms to be held forever.
