Carl Franklin Trump

May 21, 1945 — March 12, 2022

Carl Franklin Trump, 76, of Flat Rock, IL, passed away on March 12, 2022, at Aperion Care in Fairfield, IL. He was born May 21, 1945, in Olney, IL, the son of Carl & Iona (Prout) Trump, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Doug & Norma Rayborn and by his brother-in-law, Rick Clinton.

He married Joyce Rayborn on June 3, 1967, and she survives. He is also survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Doug & Aimee Trump (Flat Rock, IL); by his grandchildren, Cody Herrington & fiancée, Paula York (Flat Rock, IL) and Bailey & Megan Weger (Fort Bragg, NC); by his great-grandchildren, Waylan and Rhett; by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene & Pat Weir (Mt. Carmel, IL), James & Kathy Rayborn (Mt. Carmel, IL), Ben & Bev Rayborn (Mt. Carmel, IL), Karen Clinton (Peotone, IL), and Bev & Jack Lathrop (Claremont, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews that were thought of as grandchildren.

Though Carl was an inspector at Victor Dana for 42 years, so much could be said of his life outside of his place of work! An avid musician, he played throughout southern Illinois as a part of the Doug Rayborn Country Western Band for over 30 years. He also lent his musical talents to the Lawrenceville Church of Christ, where he served as a song leader for 59 years (and preached on a part-time basis). His love of music led him to participate in the "Boot Kickers" dance group, which was a source of entertainment and also served to keep Carl and Joyce physically active. Paired with their 26-year involvement with their TOPS weight-loss support group, it was evident that the Trumps took their health and wellness seriously. Still, the man loved to eat, as anyone who watched him put away a dozen ears of corn could attest!

An avid outdoorsman, Carl spent countless hours fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed taking in God's creation on top of his motorcycle. Though all of these things brought a sense of joy to his life, it was his family that truly had his heart. He cherished times spent cheering on his grandkids at their events and supported them in any way he could. His devotion was evident in the love he lavished on his wife (and roller coaster buddy), Joyce. Those he leaves behind will fondly remember a life marked by laughter and joy, but more importantly, it was filled to the brim with faith, hope, and love.
