Carl E. Riley, Sr., 72 of Robinson, died at 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3rd, at his home. Born September 20, 1938 in Williamsport, PA, the son of Jim and Frances E. (Lambert) Riley, Carl served with the U.S. Navy and worked at Gallos Red & White in Robinson, Emge Stock Yard in Palestine, and Chamblin€™s Hardware in Robinson. He was a member of the Moose #779 of Lawrenceville and the Legion of the Moose, Albion, IL, Amvets Post #33, Palestine, Eagles #3329, Palestine, Elks Lodge #1188, Robinson, VFW Post #4549, Robinson, and the American Legion Post # 69, Robinson. Carl loved to camp, and enjoyed driving his golf cart from campsite to campsite. He also loved to fish and spend time with his family and friends. He married Emma L. Hall on December 31, 1958 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lorrie & Michael Welty, Robinson; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl E., Jr. & Donna Riley, Marshall, and Richard D. & Kaiva Riley, Robinson; his grandchildren, Miranda Williamson and her husband, Adam, Robinson, Chad Riley, Marshall, Cory Riley, Terre Haute, Mallory Riley, Robinson, Christopher Welty and Lucas Welty, Robinson; his three great-grandchildren, Maci, Ty & Kale Williamson, Robinson; his sister, Shirley Banta, Merom, IN; his brother-in-law, Lloyd Hall, Robinson; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack & Edna Hall, Connersville, IN; as well as several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Riley Waldrop & Lloyd Waldrop; his father and mother-in-law, Ray & Ruby Hall; his brother-in-law, Clifford Banta; his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, JoAnn & Donald Watts, Raymond Hall and Thurman Hall.A graveside memorial service will be held Monday, March 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine, with Amy Wharton presiding over services. Military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Palestine AmVets Post #33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 6 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Memorials may be made to the VFW Transportation Fund, with envelopes available at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be left at .
