Byron George Gullett, 76, of Robinson, IL, died on April 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 7, 1946, in Robinson, the son of George & Goldie (Hanley) Gullett, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Judy Kay Bliss on June 20, 1970, and she preceded him in death on September 23, 2019. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert "Bobby" Gullett and Larry Gullett, and two sisters, Katherine "Kate" Wampler & Wilma Jean Dedrick.
Byron is survived by his daughters & sons-in-law, Kara & Scott Price (Martinsville, IL) and Kristy Gullet & David Wright (Murphy, NC); by his grandchildren, Mallory, Kambry, and Landry Price; by his step-grandchildren, Morgan and Emma Wright; by his brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Joe & Evelyn Bliss (Oblong, IL) and Marion & Marsha Bliss (Oblong, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Byron grew up in Robinson, and was a 1964 graduate of Robinson High School. He answered his country's call and served as a communications specialist in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Back home, he worked at First National Bank, Briggs Pottery, and TRW. An avid sports enthusiast, he volunteered as a timer at football games and track meets at RHS. Few things brought him more joy than attending his grandkids' sporting events, though taking walks with Gigi, his Yorkie, came close! Anyone who crossed paths with the man could speak to the fact that Byron Gullett lived for conversation. He loved to talk. A lot. To anyone. About anything. His voice will be sorely missed.
A member of Modern Woodman and the Farm Bureau, Byron was also a member of Dogwood Prairie United Methodist Church. We have the assurance that today, he has been freed from the chains of this world and is experiencing the fullness of his Savior.
