Brenda Yvonne (Copp) Boyd

Brenda Yvonne (Copp) Boyd of Robinson, IL, was born January 31, 1951, in Mishawaka, IN, the daughter of Albert & Marguerite (Riege) Copp. She entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She lived a joyful 72 years of life blessed by God.

Brenda attended grade schools in Lakeville, IN, and graduated from LaVille High School in LaPaz, IN, as a member of the Class of 1969. After graduating from high school, she worked at the LaPaz Bank before marrying and moving to Rolling Meadows, IL, where Brenda found employment with Western Electric. Her young family moved to Robinson in 1973, where she was a stay-at-home mom until her children entered school. When she re-entered the workforce, it was as a teacher's aide for Robinson Community Unit #2. She ended her career at Hershey in Robinson, where she worked for 14 years before retiring in 2006.

Away from work, Brenda enjoyed traveling, baking, sewing, walking, and riding her bicycle, but she was happiest when helping others and spending time with her family and friends. They could all attest to the fact that she truly cherished the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved and was so proud of her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, considering all of them as very special blessings from God. All those who had the privilege of knowing her knew they had a caring friend forever and that God and family were the most important things in her life. She always had a smile on her face and was forever a lady.

Though we weep for ourselves in missing her, we rejoice because Brenda is finally home with those who have gone before. And soon enough, the family she has left behind will be reunited with her in Heaven for eternity. What a glorious reunion that will be; praise be to God that death is not the end, but the beginning!

On June 7, 1976, Brenda accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and attended Robinwood Assembly of God Church for many years, where she formed a fruitful bus ministry. She would tell people that June 7th had a special meaning for her because it was also the day she met the love of her life, Larry Boyd, on a blind date when she was 17 years old! The two were united in Holy Matrimony on February 14, 1970, and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage before her passing. She is also survived by two sons & daughters-in-law, David & Rebecca Boyd (Champaign, IL) and Daniel & Angela Boyd (Catlin, IL); three grandsons, Kyle & wife Brittany Boyd, Payton Boyd, and Jared Boyd; two great-granddaughters, Avery and Lillian Boyd; her great-grandson, Ryker Boyd; two brothers-in-law, Richard & wife Betty Boyd (Oblong, IL) and Jerry & wife Paty Boyd (El Salvador); her sister-in-law, Bernice Boyd; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant brother, Albert T. Copp Jr.; her sister & brother-in-law, Linda & Robert Randazzo; her brother-in-law, Robert Boyd; and her in-laws, Lyle & Marilyn (Correll) Boyd.

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7th, at the funeral home. During the service, family and friends will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and favorite memories of times spent with this dear soul. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery.
