Brad Legg, 40, of rural Flat Rock, IL, died unexpectedly on May 1, 2021. He was born February 12, 1981, in Olney, IL, the son of Duane & Norvita (Arnold) Legg, both of whom survive. He married Stephanie Lee Tuel on November 22, 2003, and to this union were born two sons, Charles "Charlie" Jackson Legg and Rylan Duane Legg, all of whom survive. Also left behind to morn his passing are his brother & sister-in-law, Justin & Carley Legg; his maternal grandmother, Mamie Arnold; his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Rodney & Kelly Tuel; his brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Justin & Rachelle Tuel and Derek & Athena Tuel; his twelve nieces and nephews; as well as several cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Norvil Arnold, Sr., and by his paternal grandparents, Maxine & Charles Legg. A 1999 graduate of Oblong High School, Brad would go on to become an operator at the Marathon refinery, working in Complex 7 for a number of years. Back home, he could often be found working on and tinkering with machinery. Brad had, by all accounts, an exceptionally mechanical mind and could fix just about anything...over and over again...until it became utterly irredeemable! He had a particular penchant for restoring old farm equipment, which provided him with countless hours of well-earned satisfaction. He also delighted in nature, as evidenced by the peace he found fishing at the river and the thrill he chased every deer and turkey season. Following a successful hunt, he enjoyed exercising his technical skill in processing his kill and did so with exceptional proficiency. It was evident that Brad was one of those rare souls who could do just about anything he put his mind to and do it with excellence. In fact, it could be said that Brad Legg was a man of excellence. He was solid, inside and out. He valued truth, believing that if it wasn't right, it wasn't worth saying. He valued honesty, but never at the expense of kindness. It has been said that it's not the years in our life that counts; it's the life in our years. Though we are grieved to have lost such a special and beloved man at such a young age, we are so thankful that his 40 years were filled with real living. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 6th, at the funeral home, with burial following in the Port Jackson Cemetery (rural Flat Rock). In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to his boys' college fund, with checks made payable to "Stephanie Legg".
