Bob G. Swope, 84 of Robinson, died at 8:25 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born on October 1, 1925 in Porterville, the son of Olan R. and E. Berneace Chapman Swope. Bob served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He retired from Marathon Oil Company in 1985 as Unit Foreman after 36 years of service. He attended Trimble Bible Church and was a member of BPOE #1188, the American Legion #69, and the Marine Corps League.Bob married Wanda Alsman on October 14, 1949 and she survives. Also surviving are his son, Mark Swope, Greenville, TN; 5 grandchildren, Jason Swope, Robinson, Jeff Swope, Robinson, David Swope, Dallas, TX, Heather Wolf, San Diego, CA, and Jenny Gutierrez, Virginia Beach, VA; 2 great grandchildren, Ariana Wolf and Gavin Wolf, both of San Diego, CA; his sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Jim McCrory, Robinson; his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Cindy Swope, Anna, IL; his former daughter-in-law, Patricia Morton, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Rev. David Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22nd. Memorials may be made to the Marine Corps League with envelopes available at the funeral home.
