Billy Ray Tompkins

Billy Ray Tompkins, 53, Palestine, IL, died at 5:24 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at his residence. He was born August 4, 1955 in Macon, GA, the son of Robert Lamar Tompkins and Mable V. Anderson. He worked for Briggs Manufacturing Co. until its closing. He was a member of the Amvets Post #33. He married Jill C. Webb on June 7, 2005 and she survives. He is also survived by 2 daughters, Angel Tompkins of Palestine and Janelle Tompkins and her fianc Tripper Miller, both of Robinson; one son, Robert L. Tompkins of Palestine; his granddaughter, Hannah R. Miller of Robinson; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Mary Lou Tompkins of Midland, TX, as well as several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby L. Tompkins.There will be cremation with a visitation at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5th. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes at the funeral home.
