Billy E. MartinBilly E. Martin, 82, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2009 at United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville. He was born August 26, 1926 in Danville, IL, the son of Simon Axel Martin and Mary E. Rice Martin. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a laborer.Billy married Lea Fay Shook on November 9, 1952 and she preceded him in death on March 21, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his half brother, Oral Correll.Billy is survived by his 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Jim Martin, Palestine, Steve and Karen Martin, Palestine; 3 grandchildren, Spencer Lewis Martin, Stacey Martin, Kristie Martin; 2 step grandchildren, Stephanie Decker, Garrison Weck; and 6 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Rev. Paul Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Annapolis. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home preceding the services. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville with envelopes available at the funeral home.
