Betty VanEtta, 88, of Newton, IL died at 10:49 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at her home. She was born on January 10, 1931 in Hunt City, IL, the daughter of Burl Thomas & Etta Marie (Race) Thomas, both of whom preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Chambers, by her son, Vernon Holden; and by her sisters, Virginia Smith, Fonda Brackett, and Bernice Kolly. She is survived by her son, Larry Boyd; by her grandchildren, Gennie, Jacob, Jessica, Stephanie, Dakota; by her great-grandchildren, Emma, Stormie, Shyann, Drake; by her sisters, Donna Short and Sandy Houser; as well as several nieces and nephews. Betty was born and raised in the Hunt City area. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Her true love was spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grand kids. Betty will be remembered as a strong willed and independent woman who could always make you laugh. It was Betty’s wish to be cremated without any public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
