Betty Lou Stout, 84, of Hutsonville, IL, passed away February 16, 2022, in the comfort of her home. She was born April 24, 1937, in Martin Township, Crawford County, IL, the daughter of Millard Nolan Davis & Dorothy Wanda (Hill) Davis, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Davis and Jerry Davis. She married Floyd Stout in the heat of the summer on September 1, 1954, and he survives. She is also survived by her children & their spouses, Colene & Terry Rice, Tina & Roy York, Elaine Stout, Floyd Lynn Stout, and Betty Jane & Jeff Russell; by her grandchildren, Travis Irvin, Brandy Humbers, Heather Cundiff, Abbygail Gangloff, Matt York, Levi York, Nicole Buchanan; by her great-grandchildren, Cameron Cundiff, Colton Cundiff, Tori Crowder, Asher Irvin, Elizabeth Humbers, Samuel Humbers, Kaylee Pettigrew, Abryella Bricker, Chandler Wilson, and Alik Buchanan; by her siblings, Velma Simpson, Marlene Corley, Charlene & Gene Waggoner, Barbara Nidey, and Gary & Patty Davis; by her sister-in-law, Lois Davis; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. What could be said about Betty Stout's 84 years but that it was lived outwardly? She was a kind, loving soul who routinely put the needs of others before her own. Her family, in particular, had her heart, and each of them could speak to the tenacity of spirit with which she lived. Though she was little, she was mighty! She quietly took care of anything and everything that needed to be done: feeding and watering the cows, growing and canning vegetables; no matter what she did, she did it without complaint. While her life was marked by strength, it was also saturated with beauty. A lover of flowers, few things brought her more fulfillment than taking the potential of a seed or a bud and tending it into a beautiful blossom. In a way, this is exactly what she did with her loved ones. We are humbled and honored to carry her legacy of loving compassion with us for as long as we live. It was Betty's wish to be cremated without public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
