Betty Frances Morrison, 96, of Robinson, IL, died at 7:15 a.m. (EST) on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Gentle Care of Vincennes, IN. She was born June 1, 1922 in Mishawaka, IN, the daughter of Forrest & Mary Alice (White) Foltz, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Edward Thomas Morrison on September 28, 1939, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Foltz; by her granddaughter, Dru Morrison; and by her daughter-in-law, Jane Ann Morrison. She is survived by her children, Charles & Judy Morrison (West York, IL), Tom & Kathleen Martin (Vincennes IN), and Terry & Glenda Morrison (Palestine, IL); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Carol Lou Barnes (VA), Mary Saurwein (PA), and Glenda Foltz (IL); her brother, Paul Foltz (FL); her sister-in-law, Eileen Piersall (Carmel, IN); as well as several nieces and nephews. Betty was a graduate of Mishawaka High School. She, along with Ed, moved to the Robinson area in the early 1950s, and she immediately made it her home. She worked at Pool’s Bargain Center in Robinson for many, many years before getting on at Dollar General. She also cleaned houses for quite some time. Much of her free time was spent outdoors, and she spent countless hours fishing, mushroom hunting, and camping. She was a longtime member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and the V.F.W. #4549 Auxiliary, where she attended numerous dances throughout the years. Betty was notably kind and generous, and was, by all accounts, a “giver”. Anyone could tell you that she never met a stranger and loved those around her with a vengeance. Betty will long be remembered as a woman who loved her family (especially her grandchildren) with her whole heart. They have lost a mentor, a matriarch, and a friend. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial following in the Robinson New Cemetery. Pastor Billie Ray Ulrey will officiate the services. In honor of Betty’s love of animals, memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society. Memorials may also be made to the Robinson Area Food Pantry, with envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
