Betty Douglas

Betty Ann (Fischer) Douglas, 66, of Palestine, IL, met her Lord and Savior at 11:34 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born on September 14, 1951 in Hebron, NE the daughter of Aaron M. Fischer & Marilyn (Bice) Smith, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard Edward Douglas; by her grandsons, Timothy Clotfelter and Laim Rogers; by her brother, Scotty A. Fischer. She is survived by her son, Melvin Douglas-Henry (Palestine, IL); by her step-children, Penny Vincent (Mattoon, IL), Robert L. Douglas (Palestine, IL), Terry & Vickie Bennett (Duncanville, IL), Carla & Danny Baker (Oblong, IL); by her grandchildren, Beth & Jared Bland, Ayvonna J. Goff, Kenny L. Goff, Jr., Donna, Ronda, Bambi, Angel & spouse, Jordan, Zack, Skyler, Alex, and Ashley; by her adopted grandkids, Dawn & Brad Hemrich, and many others; by great-grandson, Zaiden & Zeke Bland; by her great-granddaughter Ashonta Waltz; by her brother, Donnie Fischer (KS); by her foster sister, Lillian Willenborg & Loyd Rice (Munden, KS); and by a great friend, Robbie Van Winkle. Betty worked hard all her life taking care of the handicapped, sick, and elderly. She loved her 3 fur-babies, Snippy Joe, Rosie Blossom, Pearl Mae & her “guardian angel” Stephen. She enjoyed taking her Pontiac Firebird Formula driving through the Smokies to see her grandchildren and great-grandsons in North Carolina. She will be remembered as a well-giving and sometimes outspoken person. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17th at the Robinson New Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Gray officiating. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to her memorial fund, with checks made payable to “Goodwine Funeral Homes”.
