Betty Alspach, 77, of Hardinville, IL, passed away on October 10, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. She was born November 14, 1945, in Bond Township, Lawrence County, IL, the daughter of C. Raymond Faith & Fern (Swayze) Faith, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Alspach; brother, Raymond Lee Faith; and sisters, Sue Alspach and Reta Kay Lambert.
Betty's departure leaves a remarkable legacy behind. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Charles "Charlie" Alspach; her daughters, Melissa & her husband, Andy Rawson, Lisa Venatta & fiancé, Fred Ballew, and Cindy & her husband, Mike Myer. She was a beacon of warmth and joy for her eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters - the role of grandma being one she embraced with all her heart. Her presence will also be missed by her siblings, Barbara, Lavern, and Shirley Kay, along with her many cherished nieces and nephews.
Betty grew up in Flat Rock and graduated from Robinson High School in the class of 1963. She served many years as a home health caregiver through Addus, but it was in the comfort of her own home where she found the most fulfillment.
Generosity was Betty's trademark. Friends and family remember her willingness to give anyone anything they needed. She was a crafter extraordinaire, investing hours in diamond dot paintings that she loved gifting to others. A keen crocheter, she meticulously crafted Barbie doll clothes and even wedding dresses for Barbies. Much of her time was spent on sewing, decorating cakes, and creating outfits for Cabbage Patch Kids, which she sold at the Fall Festival for a number of years. Her creativity was often spurred by the melodies of musical icons such as the Statler Brothers, Glen Campbell, and her personal favorite, Elvis Presley. Their records played in the background while she and her family worked together to keep their home neat and tidy. In her spare time, she was an enthusiastic slot machine player and an avid romance novel reader.
It would be impossible not to mention her soft heart for animals, most recently her dog, Betsy, and cat, Sabrina. Their unspoken bond never failed to fill the room with love. Though substantive, her affection for her pets paled in comparison to the love she lavished on her grandchildren. She frequently indulged them with whatever their hearts desired, regardless of whether they were typically allowed it in their own homes. After all, what happens at grandma's house stays at grandma's house!
Betty Alspach will be remembered as a generous, loving, and creative figure. Her kindness was radiant, and her creativity unstoppable. Despite her passing, Betty's legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
