Bette (Griffith) Clatfelter

Bette (Griffith) Clatfelter, 94, died July 4, 2021, at Willowbrook Assisted Care in Marshall, IL. She was born December 8, 1926, in Gary, IN, the daughter of Harlan and Jessie (Hammond) Griffith, both of whom preceded her in death. She married J. Edward Clatfelter on May 26, 1950, and he preceded her in death on November 6, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Griffith, Joe Griffith, Donald Griffith, & Harold Griffith, and sisters, Louise Swope, Velma Griffith, and Dorothy (Harper) Holly. She is survived by her daughters, Anita & Steve Dolson (West Union) and Carol & David & Matteson (Palestine); by her grandchildren, Jennifer & Will Ferguson, Evan & Rebekah Dolson, Seth Edward Matteson, and four great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. When raising her family, she was an excellent seamstress and made most of her daughters' clothes. She was also an excellent cook and loved baking desserts. She was also a tireless shopper. Bette was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Union. She was a deacon's wife and helped teach children, helped in VBS, was a GA Leader, helped in the kitchen, and helped when extra cleaning or painting was needed. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 9th, at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, with Steve Dolson & Will Ferguson officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the "West Union First Baptist Church" or the "West Union District Library". Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery.
