Betsy Jane Brashear

Betsy Jane Brashear, 90, of Terre Haute, IN, formerly of Robinson, IL, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Signature HealthCARE of Terre Haute. She was born March 20, 1932, in Robinson, IL, the daughter of William Floyd Kirk & Faye L. (Buskirk) Kirk, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Buell W. Brashear on December 25, 1954, and he preceded her in death on November 13, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Howard V. Kirk.

She is survived by her sister, Lela Shanks (DeKalb, IL), as well as several nieces and nephews, who will remember Betsy as a caring person whose heart beat for her family. She loved gathering her loved ones together for Thanksgiving and Christmas, some of the most precious times of her 90 years.

Much of her free time found her exercising her green thumb in her flower garden, which added a certain depth of beauty to her life. Inside, her hands kept busy crocheting, especially afghans, though she was talented enough to sew together clothes as well! While macular degeneration robbed her of her sight over twenty years ago, she was still able to see that she was loved by her family and by her cats, who were a source of constant companionship. Her legacy of love lives on within us, and we will never forget her.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27th at the Robinson New Cemetery, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. During the service, friends and family will have the opportunity to share memories of this dear woman's life. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
