Barbara Jean Inboden

Barbara Jean Inboden, 87, of Flat Rock, IL, died at 4:59 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Arbor Rose of Robinson. She was born on July 28, 1931 in Porterville, IL, the daughter of Noble Wilson & Marjorie (Wood) Wilson; both of whom preceded her in death. She married Clare “Bodie” Inboden on July 31, 1949 and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dee Gawlik. She is survived by her children, Nita Stone & husband Jim (Palestine, IL), Patty Hoalt & husband Tim (Vincennes, IN) and Sandy Benson & husband Roger (Hidalgo, IL), and Jack Inboden & wife Jeanne (Lawrenceville, IL). She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by her brother & sister-in-law, Harry and Carol Wilson (Riley, IN), and several nieces and nephews. Barb was a 1949 graduate of Robinson High School. Though she went on to work at Sears for many years, she also ran a hair salon out of her home, and the relationships she built with her clients were very dear to her. Simply stated, relationships meant everything to her, and she gave herself fully to caring for and loving others. Her door was always open, and it wasn’t uncommon to have an entire houseful of people over at any one time. Anyone who was fortunate enough to spend any length of time in her home could attest to her prowess in the kitchen; her noodles were the stuff of legend! She also had quite the green thumb and spent quite a bit of time in her yard, tending to her flower garden. A woman of faith, Barb was a longtime member of the Flat Rock First United Methodist Church. We who loved her find great peace in knowing that her faith in Christ has made her whole. A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2nd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. A funeral service will immediately follow and will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor J.D. Branson officiating the service. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Memorials may be made to Arbor Rose of Robinson, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
