Barbara Bercaw, 90 of West York, IL, died at 12:52 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born September 17, 1917 in Paris, IL, the daughter of Rodney L. Bell, Sr. and Zilpah Richards Bell. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was a Lifetime Member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association; an avid reader, an Illini and Cubs fan; and a member of the Quail Creek Country Club in Robinson. She was a librarian at the Benton Harbor Michigan Library for many years.She married Willis McLain Bercaw on March 12, 1939 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rodney L. Bell, Jr.Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mac and Beverly Bercaw, Fort Myers, FL; her granddaughter and her husband, Laurie and Michael Doyle, Oxford, MI; her sister-in-law, Perri Bell, Gonzales, TX; 4 nieces and nephews, Rodney Bell III, Portland, OR, Richard Bell, Coppell, TX, Priscilla Bell, Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, and Lane Bercaw, Paris, IL; special friends and caregivers, Lesley Titsworth, Marshall, and Steve and Tonja Sheets, West Union.Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23rd at the Bradbury Cemetery, rural West York. Pastor Jack Gabbert is in charge of services. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 a.m. at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Memorials may be made to the Bradbury Cemetery and can be mailed or left at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, 313 E. Union St., West Union, IL 62477.
