Barbara Battershell Barrett

Barbara Battershell Barrett, 77, of Robinson, IL, died at 4:03 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2008 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born December 26, 1930 in Hammond, IN, the daughter of James E. Battershell and Grace Ellen Sweet Battershell. She was a graduate of Robinson High School. She retired after 30 years with the Robinson Transformer. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, watching movies and reading.She married Harold Barrett June 4, 1950 and he preceded her in death December 4, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Robert Battershell and John Battershell; 1 sister, Doris Lackey; and her faithful dog, Happy.She is survived by 2 daughters and her son-in-law, Kathy Corn, Swansea and Lora and James Hammond, Midland, TX; 2 grandchildren, Matthew James Sung and Sara Jo Kyung Corn, Swansea; 1 brother, James Battershell, Spokane, WA; 1 sister, Betty Baker, Bakersfield, CA; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Earl Lackey, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.Special thanks to Gregory Kastner, M.D. and staff at Crawford Memorial Hospital for their care of Barbara.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Kathy Corn and Bob Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
