Barbara Ann Dix

Barbara Ann Dix, 76 of Robinson, IL, died at 1:22 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born September 30, 1934 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Emma Allen Arteman. She worked for GTE and Woolworth for several years and also worked on the family farm for 33 years. She was a member of the 3H Club and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Robinson. Barbara was an avid genealogist, donating countless hours towards the genealogy collection at the Robinson Public Library. She enjoyed playing the accordion, and gave lessons for many years. Barbara enjoyed writing poetry. She always had an open door and an empty seat at her dinner table for all of her many friends and family. Barbara married Williard Eugene €œGene€ Dix on October 18, 1952 and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents.Barbara is survived by her children and their spouses, Lawrence and Debbie Dix, Robinson, Debbie and Bruce Rich, Robinson, Donald Dix and Kris Krendl, Elida, OH, David and Judy Dix, Robinson, Robert and Teresa Dix, Robinson; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Erin Dix, Daniel and Holly Dix, Turi Rich, Mandi Rich, Lindsey Dix, Michael and Amy Dix, Zac Dix, Derek Dix, Tyler Dix, Caleb Dix; 4 great grandchildren, Jameson Dix, Foster Dix, Cooper Dix, Ellie Dix; her sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Ed Halter, Robinson; her brother-in-law, Val Franklin Dix, Overland Park, KS, her sister-in-law, Vivian Butler, Blackwell, OK; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March March 10, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Father Aloysius Okey Ndeanaefo officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Palestine. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Public Library, the Palestine Public Library, or to the Crawford County Humane Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
