Arthur G. Kessler

Arthur G. Kessler, 92, of Oblong, IL, formerly of Hardinville, IL, died at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. He was born August 8, 1915 in Hardinville, IL, the son of Verbie Kessler and Effie Barnett Kessler. He was owner-operator of Kessler Garage in Hardinville for 40 years. He collected antiques and coins, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was President of the Coin Club, Robinson. He married Dorothy Alspach July 14, 1937 and she preceded him in death. He married Mary Elizabeth Higgins August 8, 1959 and she preceded him in death September 14, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Romona Kessler Bailey; and his brother and sister-in-law, Oscar and Pauline Kessler.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rowena and Bill Larrabee, Oblong; 2 grandchildren, Shanna and Eddy Mehler and Monte Larrabee, Oblong; 2 great grandchildren, Tres and Koert Mehler, Oblong; his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Kessler Thomas and Alan Thomas, Tucson, AZ.Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Hardinville Cemetery with Pastor Elaine Lewis officiating.
