Annadee Wells

August 8, 1926 — March 22, 2022

AnnaDee Wells, 95, of rural Annapolis, IL, passed away on March 22, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born just outside of West Union, IL, on August 8, 1926, the daughter of Herman & Mary Pleasant "Pleasie" (Cooper) Bartlett. She grew up in rural West Union and attended Hutsonville High School before marrying LeRoy Wells, Jr., on February 12, 1944. Together, they founded Annapolis Grain Co., where she worked as a bookkeeper and demonstrated an innate aptitude for grain trading and charting grain cycles. Her involvement undoubtedly contributed to the business's success, leaving behind an impact that can still be felt to this day. She was also a vital part of the local Daughters of the American Revolution and was rightfully very proud of her heritage.

She was, by any and every measure, a farmlady. Though she did her part to cultivate a successful crop year after year, her family was AnnaDee's most treasured harvest. She worked hard to raise them up into the good people they have become, and the world is better because of her efforts. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her loved ones, and she would consistently put their needs ahead of her own. One way she showed her family love was through her good old-fashioned country cooking! They will never forget her mouth-watering fried chicken, nor her infamous ham loaf, which brought everyone together around her dinner table on many, many occasions. It could be said that, by filling others up, AnnaDee herself found fulfillment. It was this selfless generosity of spirit that saturated her 95 years with real and genuine living. We who are left behind will always warmly remember her life, which overflowed with wisdom, kindness, and devotion, but more than anything, it was filled with love.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Greg & Sharon Wells (West York, IL); her daughter, Sue Randle & Todd Callahan (Hutsonville, IL); her grandchildren & their spouses, Chad & Casandra Wells (Melrose, IL), Heidi & Nathan Piersall (Anderson, TX), Roxie & Sheldon Sweeney (Virginia, MN), and Drew Randle (Champaign, IL); her great-grandchildren, Clayton Wells, Mason & Madison Wells, Savanna Wells & fiance Garrett Pritts, Lainey Heleine, Chase Heleine, Brendan Piersall, Owen Piersall, and Graham Piersall; her great-great-granddaughter, Kendall Kay Wells; her sister-in-law, Deanie Medsker (Marshall, IL); as well as several beloved nieces and nephews, including John A. Bartlett (Terre Haute, IN).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman & Pleasie Bartlett; her husband of 64 years, LeRoy Wells, Jr.; her son, Stanley Ross Wells; her great-grandson, Isaac Piersall; her brothers, Warren Cooper Bartlett and Max Eugene Bartlett; her son-in-law, Ronald Arthur Randle; and her cousin, Roxanna Wells.
