Anna M. Allen

Anna M. Allen, 99, of Robinson, IL, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born October 24, 1909 in Wynoose, IL, the daughter of Robert Lee Hazel and Molly Pearl Hockman Hazel. She was a member of the Highland Church of Christ, Deborah Circle, Highland Quilting Ladies and 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star of Vincennes, IN. She and her husband owned the General Store in Landes and later owned and operated Allen Caf for over 15 years in Vincennes, IN. She was an avid quilter making over 100 quilts. Anna loved to tell her life stories of living during the depression and Chicago World Fair. Those will be missed.Anna married Harold P. Allen on June 30, 1931 and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1954. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Joy, Ray, Joe and Roy Hazel; and 2 sisters, Faye Elmer and Dorothy McKittrick.Anna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Stan Batman, Robinson; her grandson and his wife, Alan and Bert Batman, Madison, IN, her granddaughter and her husband, Leanne and John Anderson, Davenport, Iowa; 4 great grandsons, Isaac, Nate, and Luke Anderson and Ruslan Batman; her brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Hazel Hazel, Owensboro, KY; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Tom Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in the White House Cemetery, Bridgeport, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Friday preceding the services. Memorials may be made to the Highland Church of Christ Building Fund.
