Anna Louise Dunlap

March 30, 1966 — April 21, 2020

Annie Dunlap, 54, of Palestine, IL, died at 3:46 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born March 30, 1966, in Linton, IN, the daughter of Denzil Zimmerman, Sr. & Charlotte (Willey) Zimmerman-Lake. Annie grew up in the Dugger area before her family moved to Crawford County. As a young mother, much of her time was spent caring for her house and all those who called it "home". The road, however, was calling her name, which is why the next several years of her life found her behind the wheel of a truck. She enjoyed her career to the point that it really wasn't a "job" to her. Though she found joy in driving, she found life in riding horses, mushroom hunting, or roasting beans over the campfire. In other words, the outdoors was her “home away from home”. Even at home, she was outside! If she wasn't mowing, she was enjoying the peace and quiet of her porch swing...that is, when she wasn't playing with (and spoiling) her grandkids. They, along with the rest of her family, were the light of her life. The love she gave to them lives on in their hearts, and this will be her legacy for years to come. She married Larry Dunlap on September 22, 1997, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Vonnie Palmer (Terre Haute, IN) and Christina Hitt (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Daren Gettler (Merom, IN), Vanessa Pruiett (Terre Haute, IN), Thomas Hitt (Palestine, IL), and Michael Hitt (Palestine, IL); by her mother, Charlotte Lake (Dugger, IN); by her siblings, Valeria Zimmerman (Robinson, IL), Denzil Zimmerman, Jr. (Palestine, IL), and Charlenea Zimmerman (Flat Rock, IL); by several nieces and nephews; and by her step-children, Brian Lee Dunlap (Robinson, IL) and Melissa Bunton (Hutsonville, IL). She was preceded in death by her father, Denzil Zimmerman, Sr.; by her brother, Thomas Wayne Zimmerman; by her paternal grandparents, Grover Elsworth Zimmerman & Anna Mae (Cline) Zimmerman; and by her maternal grandparents, Weldon Chase Willey, Sr. & Helen Louise (Kephart) Willey. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, April 27th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. For the safety of family and friends alike, the viewing will take place behind the glass doors found on the north side of the building, with no more than 10 people gathered at a time. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Please give by going to www.kidney.org/donation .
