Ann Gubelman

Ann Gubelman, 74, of Robinson, IL, died at 9:52 p.m. June 6, 2008 at her home after an extended illness. She was born July 31, 1933 in Pittsburg, PA, the daughter of Elvin Pierce Devol and Helen McMunn Devol. She married Don Gubelman July 15, 1950, and he survives. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Susan (Goode) Gubelman of Robinson; two grandchildren, Grant Gubelman and Kelsa Gubelman, both of Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Christopher Jay Gubelman; two brothers, Elvin and Phillip Devol; and a sister in infancy.She was a homemaker and a member of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church. Before years of declining health limited her mobility, she loved to play bingo and was an accomplished contract bridge player. For more than a decade, she spent winters in Florida with her husband. In recent years, she doted on her two grandchildren, who knew her as 'Grandma Honey.' She dispensed opinions and wisdom, as well as money for good grades. A memorial service will be held at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 12. Visitation will precede the service from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pastors Dwight McDaniel and Jerry McDaniel will be in charge of services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Lincoln Land Hospice, with envelopes at the funeral home. Family graveside services will be held at the Robinson New Cemetery.
