Andrew J. [Andy] Stephens, 33 of Olney, formerly of Palestine, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 6:05 p.m. Cause of death is pending autopsy results. He was born January 22, 1976 in Vincennes, IN, the son of Warren L. Stephens and Phyllis K. Metheny Stephens. He worked at Custom Grain, Claremont, IL. He was a former member of the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #348.He is survived by his father and step-mother, Warren and Darlene Stephens, Flat Rock; his mother and step-father, Phyllis and Sam Sharum, Washington, IN; 5 brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Sharon Stephens, Robinson, Matt and Cara Stephens, Palestine, Darrell and Dolly Stephens, Vincennes, Dennis and Brandy Stephens, Washington, IN, and Dan and Melissa Stephens, Washington, IN; his sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Eli Rowell, Norman, OK; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Stephens, Robinson; his paternal grandmother, Rosalie Murphy, Champaign; his daughter, Ashton Stephens, Palestine; his son, Nathan Stephens, Palestine; 5 step sisters; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.He was preceded in death by a brother, Nikki L. Stephens; his paternal grandfather, Bruce Stephens; paternal grandfather, Rex Murphy; maternal grandfather, Floyd Metheny; maternal grandmother, Anna Metheny; and several aunts and uncles.Graveside services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine with Pastor Joe Griffith officiating. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
