Al Ivas

Algert John €œAl€ Ivas, 84, of Robinson, IL, died at 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center, Robinson. He was born July 26, 1926 in Boston, MA the son of Anthony Ivas and Anna Jakmauh Ivas. He was a Navy lifer serving from 1944 to his retirement in 1980. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during WWII and in the European-Atlantic Theater during the Cold War. He lived by and practiced the Golden Rule. He enjoyed animals, gardening, and bird watching.Al married Peggy L. Turnipseed on May 19, 1975 and she preceded him in death on March 30, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his 2 brothers and 4 sisters.He is survived by his sister, Arline Carroll, Weymouth, MA; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3rd preceding the services.
