Ada Flo Bickers

December 25, 1930 — April 22, 2019

Ada Flo Bickers, 88, of Palestine, IL, died at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Heritage Health in Robinson, IL. She was born on December 25, 1930 in Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Millard Weger & Maggie (Higgins) Weger; both of whom preceded her in death. She married Sammie Bickers on July 27, 1950 and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2011. She is also preceded in death by her sisters & brothers-in-law, Maxine & Ray Legg, Georgia & Charles Lackey, Mildred & Emmerson Trout, and Dorothy & Donald Inboden; by her brother, Donald Weger, and by her sister-in-law, Bonnie Weger. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Gary & Vicki Bickers and Monte & Sandy Bickers; by her grandchildren, Kara Bickers, Kris & Ashley Bickers, Matt Bickers, Sarah Bickers; by her great-grandchildren, Karleigh L. Alderson, Trent A. Alderson, Wade J. Hook, Colin G. Bickers, Lyla G. Bickers, and Camden Bickers; by her brother, Ron Weger; as well as several nieces and nephews. Though Ada was raised in rural Flat Rock, at the age of 12, she and her family moved to Clay City, where she would go on to graduate high school. She worked at Robinson Transformer for many years before getting on at Inboden Seed Sales after her retirement. Much of her free time was spent outdoors, be that fishing or hunting, pastimes she and Sam shared for much of their 61 years together. Longtime members of New Hope Baptist Church, both Ada and Sam lived lives of faith. There is peace in knowing that their faith in Christ has brought them together again, forever in the presence of their Savior. A time of visitation will be held 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastors Jon Wiseman and Brad Harris officiating. Burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either the “New Hope Baptist Church Benevolence Fund” or to the “Palestine Public Library”. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
