Ruby Baker

Ruby Baker, 91, of Robinson, IL, died at 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. She was born May 17, 1924 in rural Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of George Kamplain & Lena Wesley Kamplain. Ruby married Verice Baker, and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by her brothers, Wayne Kamplain, Vendall Kamplain, and George Kamplain; and by her sisters, Mabel White, Hallie Mickey, Clella Domke, Reathel Smiligin, and Nina Goodwin. She is survived by three daughters & sons-in-law, Evelyn & Larry Cross (Robinson, IL), Linda & Ron West (Vincennes, IN), and Martha & Ed Michl (Robinson, IL); her grandchildren, Angie Snyder (Terre Haute, IN), Mike Maglone (Robinson, IL), Chris and Kayla Michl (Mackinaw, IL), Brian Michl and fianc Julie Mikeworth (Robinson, IL) and Matt West (Vincennes, IN); several great-grandchildren; her brother & sister-in-law, John & Joyce Kamplain (Steger, IL); her sister, Rosie Mitchell (Robinson, IL); her sister-in-law, Bernice Baker (Indianapolis, IN); as well as several nieces and nephews. Ruby was a member of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she served in the kitchen, as a Sunday school teacher, and was also involved with Vacation Bible School. She was talented with a needle, having sewn and quilted for many years. She also enjoyed gardening, caring for her pets, and was an avid reader. She will be remembered for the love and care she gave to her family, especially to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10th at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, the Crawford County Humane Society, or to the Riley Hospital for Children, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
