Ramon Floyd Climer

Ramon Floyd Climer, 82, of Palestine, IL, died at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born December 4, 1936 in rural Palestine, the son of Paul Albert Climer & Mary Isabelle (Mail) Climer, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Dean Climer and Richard Paul Climer; and two nephews, Karl Climer and Kyle Climer. He is survived by his sister, Emily Jeanette Salter (Worthington, IN); by one sister-in-law; by six nephews and nieces, Daniel, David, Doug, Donna, Debra, and Danette; and by his special friend, Mary Kemper. Ramon grew up in the Palestine area and was a 1954 graduate of Palestine High School. He would go on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army from March 21, 1960 until his discharge on April 24, 1962. Back home, he spent his days tending the fields as a farmer, where his tireless work ethic would become the stuff of legend. Simply put, Ramon loved living and working in the country. Those who knew him well will long remember his love of American history, and that few things meant more to him than spending time with his beloved friends at the Palestine Eagles, where he was a longtime member. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. A graveside service will immediately follow and will be held at the Palestine Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Memorials may be made to the “V.F.W. Transportation Fund”, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
