Mary Jane Delay

Mary Jane DeLay, 85, of Atlanta, GA passed away August 17, 2014 at the Hospital in Atlanta. Mary Jane was born in Robinson, IL on September 7, 1928, the daughter of Orly Baker and Marjorie (Fry) Baker. She attended Eastern Illinois University and obtained a teacher’s certificate. She also received her Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She taught mathematics and computer science for a number of years at Metropolis, IL. She married James DeLay on March 28, 1948 and he preceded her in death in June of 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Mike and Matthew DeLay, as well as her brother, Avery Baker. She is survived by her daughter Debby DeLay of Atlanta, GA, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Burial will follow in the Fuller Cemetery, rural Montgomery Township. Pastor Dennis Steckley is in charge of services. Memorials may be made to the Boston Terrier Rescue Ranch (BTRET), 6150W. Dixie Highway, Rutledge, GA 30663 or left at the funeral home.
