Janettia M. Bailey, 95, of Palestine, IL, died at 3:38 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. She was born May 25, 1915 in Jasper County, IL, the daughter of Claudis Maxwell and Lulu Immel Maxwell. She worked in the Pullman car shop helping build troop trains during WWII. She worked in the kitchen at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson and was a member of the Palestine First Christian Church.Janettia married Elmer Bailey in December 1970 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Penny Principe; 2 brothers, Leon and Mack Maxwell; her granddaughter, Debi Stieber; her grandson, Robert Comer; her step-son, Larry Joe Tague; and her step-daughter and her husband, Betty and Frank Doyle.She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joann and George Kinser, Robinson; her granddaughter, Brenda McRoberts, Ellery; her grandson and his wife, Rick and Leann Comer, Michigan City, IN; 8 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; 2 nieces, Pam Kinser, Warsaw, IN and Cheryl Kinser, Nashville, TN; her step-children and their spouses, Linda and Raymond Alonzo, Kingman, IN, Shelby Jean and Leland Zellers, Greencastle, IN; and 12 step grandchildren.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Rev. Aryn Meritt officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home preceding the services. Memorials may be made to the Ridgeview Care Center with envelopes available at the funeral home.
