Dustin “Dusty” Turner, 58, of Robinson, IL, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 4:50 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019. He was born July 27, 1960 in Sullivan, IN, the son of Bill Turner & Moonyeen (Bowman) Turner. He grew up in the rural Palestine area and was a 1978 graduate of Hutsonville High School. Much of Dusty’s life was spent in the healthcare industry. He worked in the maintenance department at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson for 22 years before moving to Ohio, where he worked for the Arcadia Valley Nursing Center in Belford and the Glendora Nursing Center in Wooster. The last few years found him working as the Maintenance Director for the Memory Center in Virginia Beach, VA, a job he truly treasured. Friends will remember Dusty’s unique charm, as well as his one-of-a kind smile, and infectious laugh! He was a delight to be around, and even as his health began to deteriorate, he never lost his special sense of humor. He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Daron & Rhonda Turner (St. Joseph, IL) and Devin “Opie” & Jennifer Turner (Robinson, IL); by his daughters, Michiala Turner (Oblong, IL) and Allyson Turner (Oblong, IL); by his grandchildren, Jason Brown, Samuel Hollers, Isabella Turner, Addison Turner, Ezra Turner, Bailey Mitchell, and Mitch Mitchell; by his parents, Bill Turner (Palestine, IL) and Moonyeen Turner (Palestine, IL); by his sister, Stacy Staley (Annapolis, IL); and by his niece, Jessie Polk (Robinson, IL). He was preceded in death by his son, Derek Allen Turner; and by his nephew, Brandon J. Fear. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6th at the funeral home with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. During the service, there will be an opportunity for family and friends to share their favorite memories of Dusty. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either the American Cancer Society or to Lincolnland Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
